Boy Oh Boy, do I like Wet n Wild School of Pyrotechnics!

I recently published some less than stellar pictures of Jordana Boy Oh Boy! I promised to do another mani that did the color justice, and I hope I´ve accomplished that  in this post. I recently picked up a color that I thought was a metallic version of Boy Oh Boy.  It´s Kleancolor Teal Marble, and I really wanted to do a manicure featuring both of these great colors. I came up with the combo above. Since I also really like Wet n Wild School of Pyrotechnics, I decided to add that over Jordana Boy Oh Boy. Here´s another color that I might not have picked up had it not been for the Sally´s clearance sale. I don´t usually gravitate towards neutrals, which is why I passed on this color for a while. Even though I had tried it at the sample counter and liked the shimmer, I just wasn´t sure whether I liked the polish enough to buy it. When I saw China Glaze Fast Track on clearance, I went for it and I definitely don´t regret it. It´s a great neutral color that will work with a lot of skin tones, and gold shimmer in it is just divine! I couldn´t stop staring at my nails every time the light caught the shimmer. I added a saran wrap accent nail in Zoya Jem. I knew Jem had gold undertones and after trying a series of colors with Fast Track, it was my favorite. More pics after the jump!

Here's a simple look I wore earlier in the summer. It's a great color combo and so bright and cheerful it's definitely season appropriate. For this look, I used Finger Paints Circus Peanuts and Sally Hansen Sun Kissed.  I didn't get all fancy with my gradient, just painted my nails with Circus Peanuts and then used a sponge to add Sun Kissed to the tips.

China Glaze Bohemain Nail Art

As soon as I saw China Glaze Defiantly Daring, I knew I had to own it. I was just such a gorgeous and bright blue-green. Once I picked up the other colors in the Bohemian collection, I knew I had to do something peacock related. The colors are just so jewel toned and bright, I don't think you can avoid thinking of a peacock!

Comparison-Deborah Lippmann On the Beach vs. Urban Outfitters Blue Icee

Deborah Lippmann's most unique polishes are her glitters, so it's no surprise that On the Beach did not garner nearly as much attention as its companion color, Mermaid's Dream. However, it's a pretty bright blue jelly in its own right, and apparently, Urban Outfitters liked it enough to copy it, also. Here's another comparison pic.

Surprisingly, On the Beach had more application issues than the Blue Icee. However, its streakiness means it's less opaque, and that makes On the Beach is a better option for doing glitter sandwiches. On the Beach is a hair dustier and less bright than Blue Icee. Considering the price difference, though, I don't think it's a big enough difference to justify going with the Lippmann.  Both colors are topped with a bit of Urban Outfitters Sea Dust, ie a dupe of Deborah Lippmann Mermaid's Dream.

Inglot is a Polish cosmetics company with a very limited presence here in the US. The only reason I know about them is because a fellow lacquerhead told me about their counter at the huge Macy's store in downtown San Francisco.  While I was there, I picked up flakie 204, the blue violet hued one. Part of the reason I had to have it is because it's so unique compared to the other flakies that have emerged this season.

Unfortunately, they've changed their naming system from simple numbers to simple letters, so it may take some effort to find the flakies pictured above. However, most are pretty evident and I'm sure you can google image the others. You can surf the rest of the Inglot website to find their other polishes and cosmetics products.  According to the sales associate I talked to, the eyeshadows from Inglot are very popular because you can create your own pallette. It's similar to MAC's eyeshadows but less costly, supposedly.  All I know is they make some very pretty flakies!

I've had really good luck with nail polish when I've visited my friend in LA. During spring break, I found microbeads to do my own caviar manicure and a polish supply store that sells mini bottles. Recently, I visited again and found a display of magnetic polishes at a Rite Aid in Glendale. The same polishes have only recently emerged in my local Rite Aids. Today I'm showing you a few pictures of Igniting the Spark, a light purple magnetic with a whitish-purple magnetic pattern. Spotted at Rite Aid-Fergie by Wet n Wild display

Up until this point, I've only heard of the Fergie by Wet n Wild being spotted at Walgreens, so I was under the impression it was a Walgreens exclusive. However, yesterday I dropped by a nearby Rite Aid and found this display. If you look carefully, there are 24 polishes in this display. I am not knowledgeable/scary enough to know which color is missing from the 25 colors that are found in the large display at Walgreens. However, I'm glad to know these polishes will be available more places for those of us who don't have CVS or Walgreens nearby. If you do have CVS nearby, be sure to check out my prior post about the Fergie polishes because the Spoiled versions of the same colors are $1.49 less than the Fergie by Wet n Wild versions! Some of them are the same ones that are dupes of colors in the Sinful Colors core collection, which I discuss here. I also did a post about the colors that are NOT repromotes within the Fergie by Wet n Wild collection. Hope this information helps you find some good polishes! :)

Fergie Hollywood Walk of Fame

Fergie Hollywood Walk of Fame over Orly Melt Your Popsicle

Hollywood Walk of Fame is probably the  most buzzed about polish in the  Fergie by Wet n Wild  collection. It's multiple colored large star glitters in a clear base. I can't think of any other polish from a major brand that features large star glitter, which is probably why this polish made a big splash with us polish addicts.

I actually did not purchase this polish for myself, but borrowed it from Esmeralda Pearlfinish, who loves glitter and stars. I only had a short window of sun when I took these pictures, which is why they're way less than perfect. However, I figure it can't hurt to put some more images of this polish out there, and maybe I'll reswatch it the next time Esme and I have a polish get-together. So in my last post I shared my Dipping Dot-icure with Orly Decades of Dysfunction. That was nail art that I did on my dominant right hand. I did this fishtail design on my left, non-dominant hand. I had wanted to do a fishtail design since I first saw one on the Swatch and Learn blog, where Mary has a tutorial. I was afraid it would be too difficult for my non-dominant hand, which is why went with the dotticure for my right.

This manicure features the following polishes-Orly Decades of Dysfunction, China Glaze Foie Gras and Dress Me Up and OPI Mermaid Tears.  As I explained in my prior post, I love the color combination, and I prefer this design where all the colors play off each other equally.  I still really like the dot design as well.
