??? Days of Blurple-tree nail art

Winter tree nail art, sunlight
Winter weather is a little late hitting us here in Northern California, so it wasn't until now that I thought break out these winter trees with my Wet n Wild blurple topcoat. It still barely feels like winter here, but this mani definitely put me more in a wintery mood.  I did this nail art without any special tools. Join me after the jump to learn how I achieved this look and what colors I used.

I chose this nail art specifically because it looked like I could do it without any special tools. ( I do have some tools but I'm lazy to break them out, LOL.) The polishes I used for this manicure are:

China Glaze Kinetic Candy
Wet n Wild Little Luxuries unnamed blurple
Sally Girl unnamed white
Color Club Earthy Angel
OPI Last Friday Night

Above is my inspiration, a manicure that LadyLuck Beauty did back in early December. She obviously has more experience in nail art than me, because her trees look way better than mine.

For this manicure, I started with 2 coats of CG Kinetic Candy. After a day of wearing KC on its own, I added 2 coats of the Wet n Wild Little Luxuries unnamed blurple that has so vexed me.  Next, I  applied a little bit of white at the bottoms of my nails, using just the brush on the mini bottle. After that, I broke out a toothpick and some aluminum foil for the trees. I put some CC Earthy Angel on the foil and dipped my toothpick into the brown polish to start applying my tree. I drew my trees using the toothpick. After all that was dry, I used a ball point pen dipped in white to add some snowflakes.  My final step was topping it all off with a coat of OPI Last Friday Night for a cool glittery effect.

Overall, I am pretty pleased with the result of this mani and am really glad I decided to do it for my experiment. I'm lucky I stumbled on Desiree's nail art because it's pretty, winter appropriate and I think the iridescent glitter adds a dreamy touch to it. It's a bit ironic that neither Desiree nor I live in a part of the world with snow in it, but maybe that draws us more to winter snowscape scenes. :)

  1. Omg thats soooo cute!!! So glad I inspired u!!! Dont worry sweetie, all you need is practice, that mani was a bit hard for me also, those trees are not easy to do, but I used a dotting tool to make them ;) I will post this link on my Facebook :) http://www.facebook.com/pages/LadyLuck-Beauty-Blog/201388039918561
