I celebrated my birthday with Deborah Lippmann......Across the Universe

Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe with accent nail, sun
Across the Universe is the only Deborah Lippmann polish that I've seriously considered paying full retail price for. None of the other polishes the brand offers impresses me quite as much as this jelly blue glitter bomb. Luckily, I was able to take advantage of a special offer from the company and got ATU for $9. It's still way more than I usually am willing to pay for a polish, but Across the Universe was definitely worth it to me.

Across the Universe is so special to me that I felt like I would only wear it on a special occasion. That's why I waited until my birthday last week to wear it as a full mani. I wanted to do an intersting accent nail, and that's why I wore a blue green glass fleck gradient. Find out what polishes I used for the gradient (and base) and see more pictures, after the jump!

China Glaze Blue Year´s Eve and Glittering Garland accent nail, natural light

The two glassfleck type polishes I used for the accent nail are both China Glaze colors. I think China Glaze has a well-deserved reputation for going great glass flecks. In this case, the colors are Blue Year's  Eve and Glittering Garland. I also used Blue Year's Eve as a base color for Across the Universe. I did 1 coat of BYE and 2 coats of ATU. I think Blue Year's Eve works great as a base for Across the Universe, but I've also liked the looks of ATU when I've layered it over Orly Sweet Peacock and Color Club Bluetopia. I think Across the Universe works well with any darkish blue base. Here's a picture of my manicure before I added the green polish to my ring finger.

I am really happy with Across the Universe. I don't think there's much I can say about it that hasn't been said before. I'll simply state that I love the look of the glitters "floating" on the nail and the depth that the jelly base and multiple layers add to the look. *Swoon* Given how much I love glitter, jellies, turquoises and greens, it's no wonder that this polish was the kind of beauty I craved for my birthday!
