OPI Pirouette My Whistle over Revlon Modern Grace

OPI Pirouette My Whistle over Revlon Modern Grace, sunlight
I just have a quick post for you today. Here is the OPI glitter Pirouette My Whistle over Revlon Modern Grace. Pirouette My Whistle is from the OPI Softshades New York Ballet collection. It's a clear base with white hex glitter and silver microglitter. Revlon Modern Grace is from their top speed line. It's a beautiful creme purple with a great formula. To learn a bit more about these polishes, and to see more pics, join me after the jump.

OPI Pirouette My Whistle is a beautiful layering polish, it's the only one of the NY Ballet collection that I was really lemming. It is very comparable to other glitters like Serving Up Sparkle, but it is unique because the hex glitter is white and not silver. Like all hex glitter polishes I've tried, the hex glitter in this one was a bit hard to get onto the nail and had to be slightly repositioned to prevent it all from clumping or staying on the brush. I did 2 coats to get more hex glitters on the nail.

I found Revlon Modern Grace at a local outlet store in a 2-pack with a Just Tinted shade. It was the only 2-pack with 2 colors and not a Just Tinted and a clear coat, so it's obvious why I went with this one. Regardless, I probably would have gravitated towards this polish anyway because it's purple. Purple equals win in my book, I can't get enough of them! As soon as I tried on the color, it immediately brought to mind Wet n Wild On A Trip. Modern Grace turns out to be a tiny bit darker than On a Trip, but that didn't stop me from taking a comparison photo at the drug store. (I didn't get to *actually* compare them until I got home late at night.)  Modern Grace also has a way better formula, IMHO. It was a 2 coater for me while On a Trip took 3 coats. Both are beautiful, it's just a matter of preference and availability.

Now I didn't get any good photos of the 2 purples, but I plan to do a comparison this weekend. Hopefully you will be able to see for yourself then. While I'm at it, I'll do a comparison of Pirouette My Whistle with OPI Serving Up Sparkle, since I hesitated to buy PMW because I owned the latter. See you then!

  2. Even though turquoise is my very favorite color, when it comes to nails, purple is my favorite. I have 3 nail wheels of purples vs. every other color, which is 2 wheels at most.
