I’ve noticed that a there’s been quite a bit of traffic to this blog coming from people who searched for Sinful Colors Eva So Bright.  It’s  definitely an appropriate color for the summer, so I can understand the interest.  Because of being inspired by my readers, I’ve decided to post these pictures I have of  the last time I wore Eva So Bright. The quality of the pictures isn’t ideal, which is part of why I hadn’t posted  them prior to this.  A lot of them have a misty quality to them.  Hopefully you’ll still get a good idea about Eva So Bright, which is a limited edition offering from Sinful Colors.

 I wore Eva So Bright a while ago, when I got a craving for a bright, happy coral. I decided to add some decorative stripes to Eva So Bright using Nicole by OPI Not a Gold Bigger with a striping brush.   I really like the overall look of the mani. It’s bright and fun, with a bit of added sophistication.

Comparison: Sinful Colors Holiday Rebel vs. China Glaze Party Hearty

Oh, my poor neglected blog. Here’s a post I promised you quite a while ago that I have neglected to deliver. Hopefully it’s still in time for you to pick up the polish in question if you are still interested.

Here’s a comparison of the recent Sinful Colors holiday release, Holiday Rebel, to the legendary China Glaze polish, Party Hearty.  Party Hearty was limited edition a few years ago and is extremely hard to find nowadays.

Here are the main differences I could find between the 2 polishes. The red glitter in Party Hearty is different from the red glitter in Holiday Rebel, where the red glitter is more dense.  The red hex glitter in Party Hearty is more tomato red, while the glitter in Holiday Rebel is a bit more silvery. Speaking of silver, Holiday Rebel has a some silver hex glitters in the mix that Party Hearty lacks.   Party Hearty has gold microglitter while Holiday Rebel doesn’t.  Holiday Rebel has more green microglitter than Party Hearty. 

That's about it, folks. Holiday Rebel was part of the Glitz and Glittered display from Sinful Colors this year and should still be available in stores.   If you want to see a few more pictures, jump!

Don't like textures? Some Blue Persuasion might change your mind!

Hi, guys! I'm actually somewhere with a working internet for a change, so I thought I’d do this quick post featuring the gorgeous Sinful Colors Blue Persuasion. Blue Persuasion is one of the colors in the recent Crystal Crush textured collection from the Sinful Colors.

As you may recall, I hate the texture trend and was sure I’d never buy another texture. However, multidimensional textures like Blue Persuasion and recent releases from Zoya and OPI have me rethinking my position. I still don’t like textures, but love the contrast between a gorgeous base color and contrasting glitters, which lots of these recent textures have done beautifully. As a result, I now own 5 more textured polishes. But fear not, fellow haters, I haven’t lost my mind; I have every intention of topcoating all of them, LOL!

I wore Sinful Colors Blue Persuasion as a gradient tip on one hand, but also included it as part of a skittle look on another hand. Check out both looks, after the jump!

   Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since my last post! I have so much great material to post about, but am always too tired or too busy to sit down and work on it. It just goes to show just how exhausting a group of 5 year old boys can be. I'm working with an autism Kindergarten class this year, and let me tell you, those boys wear me out!! They are all as lovable and adorable as can be, but every day I get home pooped!  On top of all that, my darn computer has been having issues with the internet, so I'm often dealing with a frozen computer when I do sit down at my desk. :( Anyway, enough about me, let me go ahead and share a post that I started working on a while ago and which I think many gals will find exciting! 
  I’m experiencing a weird case of déjà vu. Last year, I happened upon the Sinful Colors holiday collection at the Rite Aid near one of beauty supply places and did a post about it that day at my parent’s house. Recently, I visited the same nail supply store and Rite Aid again, and was surprised to find the Sinful Colors Holiday 2013 collection, Glitz and Glittered. Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised. After all, I went into the Rite Aid hoping to find new stuff, and that particular store is one of the newest ones in my area and seems to get collections sooner.  However, I hadn’t even seen the Sinful Colors Halloween collection in my area at that point, so I didn’t think I’d find the holiday collection first.     
   As usual, I knew all about the current nail polish collections in drugstores thanks to the awesome Nouveau Cheap blog. Gianna has already done a post about this particular holiday collection. Once I saw the holiday collection in store, I found some really interesting stuff. I don’t have any swatches for you today, but I do have some really interesting information, including the odd case of the missing (Lippmann) mermaid. Here's a mani I did recently with a couple of the new colors from Sinful Colors. I started with 2 coats of Sinful Colors Skylark, a bright pastel peach. Then, I used the plastic wrap method to dab on Sinful Colors Eva So Bright, a vivid coral pink.   I really liked the combination of these 2 colors. It felt really summery and fresh!

Sometimes I get totally inspired by Youtube or Pinterest to try out new nail art. Oftentimes, my efforts aren't all that successful.  I saw this video when I was surfing nail stuff on youtube, and wanted to try it. Unfortunately, I didn't have the dental floss things she uses in the video, so I thought I'd replicate the look with a striping brush. It's not quite the same-my lines are much thicker than those in the video.However, I still like the manicure. I think the colors in this look are really cool.

Really Green Ocean! (St. Patrick's Day pt. 2)

I have no idea why I never thought to layer Sinful Colors Green Ocean over a dark green. Now that I've tried the flakie over China Glaze Holly Day, all I can say is "Wow!"

Sinful Colors Green Ocean is a blue-green flakie in a light green base. It looked stunning over Holly Day, a dark green creme from a China Glaze holiday collection. I later added a coat of NYC Matte Me Crazy and made the look matte.

Here is the St. Patrick's Day manicure that I wore yesterday. I started with 3 coats of Sinful Colors Sugar Rush, a lovely pastel blue. Then, I stamped a shamrock my pinky with China Glaze Holly Day. I created a pot of gold with Wet n Wild Ebony Hates Chris and a striping brush. I added a bunch of gold "coins" with golden yellow microbeads that I picked up using clear polish and a toothpick. I made my rainbow with the same striping brush as before and the following colors: Sally Hansen Rapid Red, Revlon Electric, Holly Day, and Sinful Colors Amethyst.   Finally, I used my largest dotting tool to create a cloud with Sinful Colors Snow Me White.

Green Ocean can't Fade Into Hue.....it's too pretty!

Here is Sinful Colors Green Ocean, a seasonal flakie polish, over a color from the new China Glaze Avante Garden collection, Fade Into Hue. I think flakies are so beautiful that they can never fade into the background. Flakies usually show up better over darker colors, but I think my pictures prove that they can look pretty good over pastels, also.  I started with 2 coats of Fade Into Hue and then added 1 coat of Green Ocean.

 Here's a picture of China Glaze Fade Into Hue on its own.  Like a lot of purple/blues, it was hard to photograph and I think it's a color you're better off checking out for yourself.  I do, however, have something coming up that should help you decide if you need this color.

Here are some quick pictures of China Glaze It's a Trapeze layered over Sinful Colors Candy Coated lilac polish. Candy Coated is from the Sinful Colors spring pastel colection. I love pastels and purple, soI couldn't resist this one. I applied 2 coats of Sinful Colors Candy Coated and then added 1 coat of China Glaze It's a Trapeze.

As you probably know, China Glaze It's a Trapeze is a milky white base with rainbow glitters. I love this polish in white, but one of the best things about It's a Trapeze is how well it layers over other colors. I also loved it over pastel blue, which you can check it out in this post.

On my thumb, I actually tried layering 1 coat of a rainbow polish and then a coat of a sheer white. It turns out everyone is right, China Glaze It's a Trapeze gives the same "jelly sandwich" look as a sheer white polish over rainbow glitter.

Finally, I was going to apologize for the quality of these pictures. The polish had long been removed when I sat down to edit and realized that all the pictures were less than optimal. It was even cuter in real life, so even though the pictures aren't great, I hope you enjoy this combination!

Sinful Colors has released a couple of collections for the spring. The one that got my attention is called the "Almost Famous" collection at Walgreens. I was surprised when I ran into a display with the same exact colors in a display called "Paparazzi" at Rite Aid.

Sinful Colors Star Dust is a new polish from the Sinful Colors glitter collection.  It is a clear base with mostly purple and some magenta glitters.  I don't have it on hand to do a comparison, but this color seems really close to the limited edition Wet n Wild color called Back Alley Deals. The big difference I know offhand is that Back Alley Deals dried to a semi-matte finish, while Star Dust is fairly shiny when it dries. Also, it took 3 coats to achieve opacity with Star Dust, while I think the Wet n Wild glitters were opaque in 2.  Despite the differences, I'm glad that Sinful Colors released this polish so more people can have a chance to pick up this gorgeous combination of glitters! If you're lucky enough to find it this week like I did, you can pick it up for 99 cents with a Walgreens coupon. :)

It's Baaaaack!- Sinful Colors Green Ocean has already been sighted!

I've heard reports on various websites that some Walgreens have already started putting out the St. Patrick's Day displays that feature Sinful Colors Green Ocean. The green tinted polish is a favorite among us nail lovers because it's a flakie polish at a very affordable price!

The green hued flakie is only available annually in St. Patrick's Day displays.  Like all Sinful Colors polishes, its retail price is only $1.99. In the past, Walgreens is the only drugstore where I've found the St. Patrick's Day displays with this polish but I also wasn't much of a Rite Aid shopper before this year. I imagine that other stores that carry Sinful Displays might also be putting the St. Patrick's polishes out soon.

There are plenty of nice swatches of Green Ocean out there. Personally, I've layered it over violet and blue.  My swatch below has it over Orly Royal Navy.  Hopefully I'll come up with some other good layering combos and post them soon. In the meantime, just wanted to alert everyone to start looking, since this polish is highly coveted and only available around this time of year. After St. Patrick's Day, it'll disappear faster than a fleeing leprechaun!

Wet n Wild Party Rocks polishes=more repromoted Spoileds

Here's a post I began writing a while back and then completely forgot to follow up on. Hope the info in here still helps, even if it's largely outdated. The Wet n Wild Party Rocks collection was out for the 2012 holidays, so these polishes aren't available in most drugstores anymore. My post talks about how most of them are dupes anyway!

There hasn't been much information posted about the Wet n Wild Party Rocks holiday 2012 nail polish collection and I'm not surprised-it's a bunch of repromotes! All but one of the "new" colors are repromotes of colors from the Spoiled line. To boot, all of the repromotes are also apparent dupes of Sinful Colors! Don't believe me? Multi-Faceted skittles- Sinful Colors Faceted over purple

Sorry for my long absence. I've been having real life problems recently and blogging has not been a priority for me.  However, I'm back for now and wanted to share this recent look. It's been raining a lot so all my photographs were taken using a natural light lamp.

 In this manicure, I used 1 coat of Sinful Colors Faceted over two types of Essence purples.  As I described in a prior post, Faceted is a mix of dark purple glitter with multichromatic green bar glitter.  It's interesting that the bar glitter showed up better over the dark purple instead of the pastel purple.  The darker purple on my pointer and middle fingers is Essence Oh My Glitter!, while the lavender on the other two fingers is Essence A Lovely Secret. Quick nail wheel comparison: Sinful Colors Dazzle vs. OPI You Only Live Twice

Just putting up this quick post to confirm my suspicions about Sinful Colors Dazzle. As I first described in my original post about the Sinful Colors Winter collection, I think this color will turn out to be a dupe of OPI The One That Got Away or OPI Congeniality Is My Middle Name. Here's a bottle comparison between OPI TOTGA and Sinful Colors Dazzle:

As you can see in my first picture, SC Dazzle is NOT a dupe of OPI You Only Live Twice. Dazzle is definitely darker and more purple than the new OPI Bond color. Here's another picture of the two on nail wheels:

and here's a bottle comparison between OPI You Only Live Twice on left, Sinful Colors Dazzle on right. Even though it's not ideal lighting, I think you can see that YOLT is redder than Dazzle.

Quick comparison-Sinful Colors Winter Wonder vs. Zoya FeiFei

Here's my comparison of Sinful Colors Winter Wonder and Zoya FeiFei. I had some smudging and lost my FeiFei for a bit, so I switched out the pictures in this comparison with some better ones. You can see that the the two polishes are about the same. Depending on the light, one or the other can seem brighter than the other, but I think that's just a byproduct of the shimmery nature of the polish. Zoya FeiFei is also a dupe of OPI On Her Majesty's Secret Service. My friend Lisa over at Swatches and Whatnot did her own comparison where she discusses the two polishes extensively, check out the full post here. Sinful Colors' winter polish collection includes a dupe of Zoya Fei Fei!(or is it a dupe of an OPI Bond?)

I just got back from my local Rite Aid, where I was thrilled to find the new Winter Shimmers collection from Sinful Colors. It has soooo many interesting things in it, including a dupe of China Glaze Lorelai's Tiara, a near dupe of a Wet n Wild Coloricon glitter, a possible dupe of OPI The One that Got Away, and a shimmery dark blue jelly. However, the colors that got my attention right away, and that I knew that I had to own, were Faceted and Winter Wonder.

I'm certain that Winter Wonder is going to be a huge seller because it's really, really similar to the recent  amazing color from Zoya, FeiFei. By many bloggers' accounts, FeiFei is the "must own" polish from Zoya's fall collection, because its shimmer is so multifaceted.  Imagine my surprise when I saw a color in the Sinful display that looked remarkably like FeiFei. I rushed to swatch this color and did so without any base coat, top coat or proper cleanup brush, and while fighting with diminishing sunlight.  I ended up smudging my ring finger, also.  I hope you still enjoy seeing swatches of this despite these issues. I actually own FeiFei and will be doing a comparison post between Winter Wonder and FeiFei as soon as I can! Offhand, I *think* Winter Wonder may be a bit darker and greyer, but I don't have both bottles in front of me right now.

Faceted is another amazing color in this new collection, it's just so gorgeous. It's purple microglitter and holographic bar glitter in a clear base. The bar glitter shifts from turquoise to green to pink to yellow.  I don't think I've seen anything quite like the glitter in this one. I initially tried to swatch this one alone, but realized after the 1st coat that this color probably would never build to opacity. That's how I came to layer Faceted over Winter Wonder instead.

I am not the best at nail art, and I don't have as much free time as I would like to dedicate to my polish hobby. It's probably these facts that makes me adore plastic wrap nails so much! They have a cool, textured look and don't require any kind of special talent. You just ball up your plastic and go! I did some plastic wrap nails with 2 Sinful Colors polishes, Innocent (lime green) and Amethyst (purple creme). I think the fact that the color choice is a bit unexpected is what makes this look really fun!

Unspeakable beauty-Sinful Colors Green Ocean over Orly Royal Navy

Okay, April may be long over but I still have a few blue manicures to post, so I'm continuing my Autism Awareness theme. :)

Those with autism have a brain that works differently than ours. A big part of that is that they process things visually and not verbally.  As a result, preschoolers with autism don't start speaking until later than their typical peers, and some of them will barely speak at all, even as they get older. There are plenty of autistic people who are very verbal, but in general, an autism diagnosis means a less verbal child. Speech therapists and other educators work with all types of autistic children to improve their ability to speak and communicate with others.

This combo was inspired by seeing a great picture of Sinful Colors Green Ocean over a royal blue on the Icy Queen Nail Parlour blog. After having tried and being really impressed by the beautiful blue shimmer in Orly Royal Navy, I wanted to try flakies with it. Royal Navy is an awesome royal blue jelly with a bit of a turquoise shimmer. I got more shimmer out of it by keeping Royal Navy upside down until it was ready to apply. The shimmer tends to settle at the bottom so this helped.  Sinful Colors Green Ocean is the blue flakie in a green base that is typically only available around St. Patrick's day.  I'm lucky to have picked mine up and have liked it no matter what color it's over.
