Sinful Colors Nova-2 ways

Merry Christmas! I hope you're having a wonderful day. I am, except I thought I had hit "publish" on this post last night, but apparently not, LOL.

Sinful Colors Nova with China Glaze Make a Spectacle accent, natural light
I wore Sinful Colors Nova as a mani the other week. Nova is part of the Sinful Colors Holiday Shimmers collection.  It's a very pretty dark blue jelly with green and blue shimmer. I was a bit eccentric and wore it differently on both hands.  First, here it is on its own, with an accent nail of China Glaze Make a Spectacle.

Then, I got fancy and used tape to make a tree with Essie Mojito Madness. I was going for this gorgeous look from Refined and Polished. Unfortunately, I don't have striping tape, so I just added the lines to the tree freehand with a striping brush. Then, I used a dab of Sinful Colors Pumpkin Spice to make the star on top of the tree. I should've used more, because you can barely see it in these pictures! I sponged the bottoms of my nails with Sinful Colors Call You later.

I have a couple more pictures, jump to see them!

Christmas (Salad) Days- green glitterbomb featuring Orly Mermaid Tale

Orly Mermaid Tale over China Glaze Glittering Garland and Sinful Colors Cal You Later, sun
Here's a fun combination I wore after I decided I better get into the Christmas spirit and start doing some Christmas themed manis before it's too late. Unfortunately, I couldn't actually find any actual holiday stamps in my tiny collection of plates. The closest I came is this poinsettia stamp. I didn't want to get too complicated so I just stamped my middle finger. On the other fingers, I decided glitter was the solution. I started with 2 coats of China Glaze Glittering Garland, then added 1 coat of Sinful Colors Call You Later and 1 coat of Orly Mermaid Tale. I think the resulting manicure is blingy enough for the holidays. It actually reminds me a lot of Lynderella's green glitterbombs, like I Can Afford It and Salad Days.  However, there was a specific layering look that inspired this. Join me after the jump to see the inspiration and for more pictures!

Coldhearted beauty? Sephora X Coldhearted

Sephora X Coldhearted, shade
I have some swatches from November for you today. Back when I found the Sephora X polish display around Thanksgiving, I gave myself a full manicure with one of the samples of Sephora X that was in the store.  I tried out Coldhearted, a dark purple jelly with hex and microglitters in the same color. Unfortunately, I only got a few pictures of it before it began to chip and I took it off, and of course I can't redo the manicure. Here are my pictures, for what they're worth.

Like all purples, Coldhearted's color was a bit difficult to capture.  It's closer to picture in the shade, but you can find another perspective on the color by checking out this link at The Polish Jinx. Not only does the post have a bottle shot of Coldhearted, it has bottle pictures for all of the Sephora X polishes.

Overall, I really like Sephora X Coldhearted. It's a beautiful shade of purple and the lovely jelly nature of the base really lets the purple glitter shine through. It's a lovely polish, and applied pretty well for a glittery polish. What do you think of it?

Gourds in the desert? Finger Paints Gourd or Bad? over Kalahari Kiss

Finger Paints Gourd or Bad over ver China Glaze Kalahari Kiss, sunlight
Here are my swatches of Finger Paints Gourd or Bad, a multi-colored bar glitter over China Glaze Kalahari Kiss. BTW, in case you're curious, "gourd" is a specific plant but it's also sometimes used to describe squash, which I'm sure is what the name is a reference to. Finger Paints Gourd or Bad? came out as part of the Finger Paints Fall '12 collection.  It's a collection of silver, light blue, light orange and lavender bar gitter in a clear base. Kalahari Kiss is from China Glaze's On Safari collection. It's an awesome neutral camel color, in my opinion.

Here's the same combination in the shade. Please excuse my uneven nails, I had just had a break and hadn't evened everything out when I wore this combo.

China Glaze Glitter All the Way over holiday skittles

China Glaze Glitter All the Way over various colors, shade
I knew I wanted to try China Glaze Glitter All the Way over a few other colors. It's an interesting polish, it's fairly dense but you can still see the underlying polish if you do just one coat. I wanted to do glitter tips with it and decided to try it over the colors in the polish: gold, red, purple and green. I think it looks really pretty over all of the colors, and makes for a festive look in this skittle form! To find out what polishes I used, and see more pictures, join me after the jump!

China Glaze Whirled Away over a bright purple

China Glaze Whirled Away over Island Girl Aloha Luau,
 sunlight
It appears China Glaze has been paying attention to the surge in popularity of indie polishes in the last year. The proof: its new glitter from the Cirque Du Soleil collection. Whirled Away is a combination of large black hex glitter, black bar glitter and huge white hex glitters in a clear base. It should sound familiar, since a series of black and white glitters has been around for months from different indie vendors. For a comparison of a bunch of these type of black and white glitters, check out this incredibly thorough post at Chalkboard Nails.

I knew I wanted to layer Whirled Away over a bright color, and I ended up going with one of my favorite new polishes of late. Island Girl Aloha Luau is a bright, nearly neon purple with a silver shimmer. It’s super vivid and saturated, the perfect backdrop for the simple colors of Whirled Away. Join me after the jump to find out what I thought of the glitter, plus a few more pictures.

China Glaze It's a Trapeze over a pastel blue

China Glaze It's a Trapeze over Kinetic Candy, sunlight
Here is China Glaze It's a Trapeze over 2 coats of China Glaze Kinetic Candy. I got the idea to layer the milky glitter over blue after seeing some of the awesome combinations my friend Lisa over at Swatches and Whatnot has posted.  I decided to layer the milky polish over a light blue in order to achieve a look similar to Nails, Inc. Pudding Lane.  My overall look is lighter than the Nails Inc version, but I still really like it. I just did 1 layer of It's a Trapeze over 2 coats of Kinetic Candy.
