China Glaze Glitter All the Way over holiday skittles

China Glaze Glitter All the Way over various colors, shade
I knew I wanted to try China Glaze Glitter All the Way over a few other colors. It's an interesting polish, it's fairly dense but you can still see the underlying polish if you do just one coat. I wanted to do glitter tips with it and decided to try it over the colors in the polish: gold, red, purple and green. I think it looks really pretty over all of the colors, and makes for a festive look in this skittle form! To find out what polishes I used, and see more pictures, join me after the jump!

China Glaze Whirled Away over a bright purple

China Glaze Whirled Away over Island Girl Aloha Luau,
 sunlight
It appears China Glaze has been paying attention to the surge in popularity of indie polishes in the last year. The proof: its new glitter from the Cirque Du Soleil collection. Whirled Away is a combination of large black hex glitter, black bar glitter and huge white hex glitters in a clear base. It should sound familiar, since a series of black and white glitters has been around for months from different indie vendors. For a comparison of a bunch of these type of black and white glitters, check out this incredibly thorough post at Chalkboard Nails.

I knew I wanted to layer Whirled Away over a bright color, and I ended up going with one of my favorite new polishes of late. Island Girl Aloha Luau is a bright, nearly neon purple with a silver shimmer. It’s super vivid and saturated, the perfect backdrop for the simple colors of Whirled Away. Join me after the jump to find out what I thought of the glitter, plus a few more pictures.

China Glaze It's a Trapeze over a pastel blue

China Glaze It's a Trapeze over Kinetic Candy, sunlight
Here is China Glaze It's a Trapeze over 2 coats of China Glaze Kinetic Candy. I got the idea to layer the milky glitter over blue after seeing some of the awesome combinations my friend Lisa over at Swatches and Whatnot has posted.  I decided to layer the milky polish over a light blue in order to achieve a look similar to Nails, Inc. Pudding Lane.  My overall look is lighter than the Nails Inc version, but I still really like it. I just did 1 layer of It's a Trapeze over 2 coats of Kinetic Candy.

Sephora X Chaotic over Sally Hansen Pacific Blue

Sephora X Chaotic over Sally Hansen Pacific Blue, sunlight
Here are my swatches of Chaotic, the new black and white topcoat from the Sephora X polish line.  I just picked this up on Wednesday, and have discussed its limited availability in my previous post. I layered it over 2 coats of Sally Hansen Pacific Blue, an awesome bright cobalt blue that's quickly become a favorite. I think you can easily see why this blue is an attention-getter. It's also easy to see why these kinds of black and white glitters have long been on the radar of other polish lovers.  The black and white matte glitters create quite a contrast over almost any color, and it's a really beautiful effect. I heard more than one person call the effect "paint splatter"-like.

New Sephora X polishes on their way, including a Sticks and Stones type of polish!

I happened to stop by my local Sephora yesterday, where I was thrilled to find that they are carrying a whole new line of nail polish.  The most shocking in the bunch for me was definitely Chaotic, a black and white gitter along the same lines as Sticks and Stones/Connect the Dots. Expect a full swatch soon, but for now, here's a picture of it on my thumb.

Edited to add: I now have a swatch of Chaotic here.

The sales associates at Sephora were very excited about this new line of polishes, and they are how I learned more about the polishes. Apparently, there are 50 flagship Sephora stores in the US that got the displays for this weekend, but it should be rolled out nationwide by summer of 2013.  Here's a link to the Sephora website where you can check them out for yourself. Unfortunately, the bottles are only .33 oz and retail for $9.50, so they're a bit on the pricey side.

There was an innovation in this display that I really liked-  their clear plastic tester sheet. You can test out the polish on the plastic sheet instead of your nails to see how it applies. In addition, you can put your nail under the clear plastic with the polish on in order to see how the color will look on you! Isn't that cool? I wish other stores woud follow Sephora's lead on this, it is such an awesome and helpful tool!

Too lazy for 15 Day Lazy Challenge

Hi, guys! Just posting to let you know that I am dropping out of the 15 day challenge. My heart just hasn't been in it, and  I've been rushing to post almost every time because of not having the internet at home. I had thought I'd have it soon after joining in, but that didn't end up working out. I have a lot of cool posts planned that I've been putting off because of the challenge, so watch out for some  upcoming stuff about some great new polishes.

Lazy 15 Day 7- Feminine Nails, with Orly Decades of Dysfunction

Orly Decades of Dysfunction with stamping and Nina Holographic Topcoat
Blogger fails again! This was supposedly published last night on my smartphone.  This is the 2nd time in the 7 days of challenges that Blogger has malfunctioned on me. :(

I haven't had a lot of time to dedicate to my nails or blog recently, and these nails are no exception. The stamping is less than perfect, but I'm hoping the glitter makes up for it. For this look, I started with 2 coats of Orly Decades of Dysfunction, a neutral nearly white pink. Next, I stamped it with LA Girls Magnetized and a Bundle Monster 224 stamping plate. Finally, I added a coat of Nina Holographic Topcoat, a good dupe for Butter London Tart With a Heart. I wish it had shown up a bit better, I guess the base color is a bit too pale for this glitter.
